What to wear to a Sneakerball: My 2018 Agora Sneakerball Outfit

The Agora Sneakerball is a fundraising gala to support the Kicks4thecity organization. Since 2012, the Kicks4theCity organization has collected and distributed 67,000 pairs of new or gently worn sneakers to those who are less fortunate. They've also expanded their philanthropic activities overseas to Ghana, which is very close to my heart, this organization is nothing short of amazing!

The Agora Sneakerball has become one of Chicago’s most anticipated events. People from all over the country fly in to attend this beautiful evening filled with philanthropy, good vibes, and of course sneakers!

So ya girl in true Lady Adelaide fashion begins to shop for a sneaker ball gown 1 1/2 weeks before the event, knowing, I’d be ordering online. Deep sigh. After a couple of all-nighters, picture swaps, tons of messaging, and 2-day shipping, I had a sneaker ball outfit.

In my mind, I knew the exact look I wanted to go for, learning from last year, I didn’t want a dress which was too long. I was stepping on my gown the entire night and you couldn’t even see my sneakers. I also knew I didn’t want to spend a ton of money, I’m all about budget shopping!

In the end, I couldn’t find a dress that I loved in my budget so I opted to find a skirt and top (more work I didn’t want to do) but it got done.

  • I ordered my 2017 sneaker ball dress from Etsy, and I was not disappointed, so this is where I started my dress search this year.

  • The skirt was the exact style I wanted; high low length with tulle. I was worried it would look too costume-y, but after reading the reviews I decided to go for it.

  • Then I saw a skirt option with LED lights, game changer! I immediately was inspired by Claire Danes 2016 Met Gala moment in her Zac Posen Ball Gown created with Fiber Optics which made the gown light up in the dark, ordered!

  • I bounced around the Agora ball the entire night with my LED skirt lit up with absolutely no issues!

Blouse: Missguided Black satin drape plunge blouse

  • I wanted a black, elegant blouse, with slight sex appeal. I searched for a blouse which was very simple to balance out my skirt which was very voluminous and doing the most.

  • I ended up on Shopstyle and boom this blouse pops up. I actually purchase 3 blouses from other online retailers, and this one worked out best.

Sneakers: Nike ID Custom Air Max 90’s

Price: Can’t remember but Way cheaper than 2018 prices

  • These shoes are hands down my most favorite sneakers I own. I purchased these sneakers over 10 years ago in 2007 and they still look great.

  • I was initially undecided between these Air Max 90’s or my Human Races. Of course these won, and I’m glad I wore them to complete my look.

Shopstyle and Etsy are the true MVP’s!!! Also, I want to give a very special thank you and shout-out to my co-stylist and very good friend Tisia Saffold, honestly she should’ve been paid for her services. Looking forward to the 4th Annual Agora Sneakerball in 2019!
